Summary of Team

The Global Marketing and Communications (GMC) department includes the marketing, communications, editorial, design, digital, social media, and content project management teams.  Though all Catalyst staff are working remotely during the pandemic, about half the members on our highly productive team are based in Catalyst’s NYC office with the other half working remotely from homebased offices on a permanent basis.  We proudly transform Catalyst’s cutting-edge research into reports, workshops, and other knowledge products that our Supporters and the public engage with on their journey to create more inclusive workplace cultures. It is our mission to amplify our efforts to increase awareness and visibility.


Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting into the VP, Marketing, the Senior Director, Marketing will support the development and execution of go-to-market plans and strategies. The Senior Director will develop and implement product marketing plans to build awareness, attract and retain Supporters, generate interest among prospects and drive growth in revenue and engagement.  Leading key marketing campaigns, developing marketing messaging and materials, conducting market analyses, and partnering with internal stakeholder groups are essential parts of the role.  The Senior Director will manage select marketing partnerships. 

The responsibilities will also include the following:

Marketing Strategies – Support the development of the Marketing Strategy for the Catalyst brand and products across marketing channels.

  • Create and execute cutting-edge, innovative, and engaging marketing strategies to amplify Catalyst research, thought leadership, and supporting initiatives.
  • Support the VP, Marketing with the brand positioning and annual brand messaging strategy for Catalyst, ensuring brand plans are executed both internally and externally.
  • Partner and consult with cross-functional leaders, including Corporate Engagement, Community & Convening, Learning Advisory Services, Research, and channel partners to establish the short and long-term brand strategies and programs to attract and retain Supporters, generate interest among prospects and drive growth in revenue and engagement.
  • Drive organization-wide campaign planning process, managing strategy, budget, and execution for key marketing campaigns (e.g. International Women’s Day, 60th Anniversary, etc.) and initiatives, including the development and tracking of all KPI’s.
  • Strategically identify and execute against opportunities that will amplify the Catalyst mission.
  • In partnership with marketing channel leaders, develop channel strategies for Catalyst rooted in awareness, acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Performs other duties as needed and directed by the VP, Marketing and SVP.


Drive Go-To-Market Strategies – Develop marketing focused on Catalyst campaigns, initiatives, and products

  • Develop seasonal and annual marketing calendar that supports organizational plans and priorities.
  • Develop and implement actionable marketing and product marketing plans that address key organizational objectives across departments within the organization (e.g. Corporate Engagement, Community & Convening, Learning Advisory Services, and Research).
  • Ensure global consistency in execution of marketing initiatives across all supporter touchpoints and across the end-to-end supporter lifecycle, partnering with creative, content strategy, digital marketing, and agencies to ensure work aligns with briefs, strategies, and organizational objectives.
  • Oversee brief-writing process and lead agency and cross-functional development of marketing campaigns, leading projects from strategy/concept development through to execution and reporting.
  • Manage external agency relationships and RFP processes, as needed.
  • Set and manage budgets for all touchpoints.
  • Performs other duties as needed and directed by the VP, Marketing and SVP.


Education, Knowledge, and Skills     

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in business, marketing, or a related field of study.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible go-to-market marketing strategies, brand marketing, and product marketing experience with strong digital expertise.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing omni-channel campaigns and activations.
  • Thorough understanding of brand planning processes, including leveraging consumer insights/segmentation to drive annual and seasonal strategies.
  • Decisive individual who displays effective communication, organizational, analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving skills. Not afraid to take calculated risks and offer points of view.
  • Must be able to freely move between strategic activities to day-to-day tactical execution tasks without pausing.
  • Team Player, with a track record of eliminating barriers en route to achieving goals by way of influence and relationship building.
  • Experience managing a high frequency, multi-channel planning process and calendar.
  • Record of successfully driving growth through marketing and building brands and effectively developing and executing major marketing campaigns from concept stage to completion.
  • Proven results in successfully launching new initiatives or products.
  • Experience conducting market, consumer, and competitive analyses.
  • Creative marketer with strong marketing and copy writing skills.
  • Broad knowledge of the corporate world; general knowledge of issues facing working women.
  • Experience working with creative, media, and marketing agencies.
  • Excellent project manager with the ability to work on multiple initiatives, and work with confidential issues and data.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, and outstanding attention to detail.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with well-developed interpersonal skills, an understanding of commitment to customer service, and a professional demeanor.
